Amus Beast Osaurus, known professionally as Amus Beasto, has been piercing since 2005 and is the founder of Proper Poke Piercing & Tattoo in Victoria, British Columbia.

Amus has completed the Comprehensive Piercing Intensive through the Fakir Intensives and is a member of the Association of Professional Piercers (APP). With over two decades of experience, Amus is known for safe, precise, and thoughtful piercing practices, with a strong focus on client care and creating a comfortable, informed experience for every client.

Through Proper Poke, Amus has also prioritized environmentally conscious practices, working to reduce impact wherever possible within a single-use industry.

CPPA was created to address the lack of consistent, accessible education in Canada and to bring piercers together through shared standards, collaboration, and ongoing professional development across the industry.

Matthew Masterton

VICE PRESIDENT

Matthew Masterton has been piercing since 2009. Originally from the UK, he moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, in 2016.

He has completed both the Beginner and Advanced Fakir Intensives and became a member of the Association of Professional Piercers (APP) in 2018. He has also attended multiple industry conferences, including the APP Conference in Las Vegas.

During his first APP conference, Matthew participated in the mentorship program, where he was paired with Becky Dill. That experience continues to influence his approach to piercing — creating an environment where clients feel safe, supported, and confident in their decisions.

Matthew is passionate about offering piercings that reflect and celebrate individuality, helping clients feel comfortable and validated through their choices. He values connection, mentorship, and ongoing learning, and is committed to supporting a stronger, more collaborative piercing community in Canada through his work with CPPA.

Alyssa Bailey

SECRETARY

Alyssa began her journey in the piercing industry in 2013, completing a formal apprenticeship in Winnipeg. Outside of the studio, she spent her weekends handcrafting solid gold jewelry that was carried in-house and shared with clients who connected with her distinctive style and attention to detail.

In 2019, Alyssa relocated to Victoria to continue growing her career in piercing. What continues to inspire her most is guiding clients through fear and uncertainty with care, compassion, and a little bit of fun along the way. She loves helping folks build confidence, express themselves, and discover jewelry that truly feels like them.

Dedicated to ongoing education, Alyssa has attended the Association of Professional Piercers conference in Las Vegas, as well as the Canadian Piercing Education Series (CPES) hosted in her current hometown of Victoria.

Outside of piercing, Alyssa has developed a passion for competitive pinball, traveling across Canada and parts of the United States for tournaments. The pinball community has given her a strong sense of connection and camaraderie, inspiring her to always show up as her best self — both personally and professionally.

She is excited to continue growing, learning, and supporting the piercing community through this new chapter with the Canadian Professional Piercers Association.
