Application Process

1. Choose Your Membership Type
Select the membership that best fits your role and experience.
Membership Options:

2. Complete Your Application
Submit your application with accurate and up-to-date professional information. Applicants will be asked to provide:

Apprenticeship or training details

Proof of sterilization knowledge

Proof of jewelry used for initial piercings
3. Submit Your Studio Walkthrough
Applicants working within professional piercing environments are required to submit a virtual
studio walkthrough video as part of the application process.
This walkthrough helps CPPA better understand the applicant’s working environment and
supports our commitment to safer piercing practices and professional standards.
Walkthroughs include:

Handwashing stations
-
Sterilization equipment
-
Jewelry storage
-
Cleaning and disinfecting areas
-
Sharps disposal
-
General studio setup
Additional documentation may be requested during the review process.

4. Application Review
Applications are reviewed by the CPPA team to help ensure alignment with membership standards and safer piercing practices.

Actively working within a professional studio environment

Agreement to CPPA standards and Code of Ethics

Employment within a CPPA-approved studio or studio walkthrough submission
Applicants Will Be Asked To Submit:

Portfolio and/or social media links

Continuing education history

Studio information
Studio walkthrough submission (if required)

Information regarding sterilization practices

Information regarding jewelry used for initial piercings
Associate Member
Requirements:

Active involvement in the professional piercing industry or a related field
Website and/or portfolio links

Agreement to CPPA Standards and Code of Ethics

Commitment to supporting professionalism, education, or safer piercing practices
Applicants Will Be Asked To Submit:

Apprentice Member
Requirements:

Active apprenticeship under a professional mentor

Annual Renewal
Memberships are renewed annually and remain active as long as members continue to uphold CPPA standards and membership expectations.

All submitted materials and application information are kept confidential and used only for membership review purposes
